- Summary
- The film is a sequel to Return to Tarawa: The Leon Cooper Story, a documentary centered on Cooper, who at 93 is one of the last remaining survivors of the 1943 battle. A Congressional mandate prompted by that film ordered a US military team back to Tarawa to search for and recover the remains of over 500 Marines and bring them home. This film, narrated by Kelsey Grammar, brings to light the extraordinary dedication of the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC) team members, largely unsung heroes who, until now, have been unrecognized while working in the shadows. Their efforts on the island of Tarawa have provided some closure after 69 years, recovering the remains of a few U.S. servicemen and flying those remains back to American soil. JPAC has more than a dozen teams that travel the globe on recovery missions. This film is the story of one of those missions
